Welcome to Old Schoolhouse Plantery. We are a small plant nursery and vegetable farming business in Southern Vermont. Our online store offers unusual plants through the growing season (April - October), starter plants (vegetables in Spring) and some greenhouse small pot supplies.
My husband John passed away in March (not Covid related). I am continuing our business as tribute to his memory. He was renowned for his growing of Yacon in Vermont, both edible and starter plants/crowns. Yacon starter plants are available in the store now (May +June) and at the greenhouse, though starter plants of other vegetables and tomatoes will not be available this year.
Also, if you are local to Brattleboro, I will not be attending the Brattleboro Farmer's market this year. The greenhouse will be open at the weekends on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until September. Fresh cut and pre-bagged edible Yacon pieces will be available. Safe practices are being implemented by me and I respectfully request that customers wear a mask/face covering while visiting the greenhouse for everyone's safety at this time.
